I have been working on this one for a while. It's silly, but I thought it would be a fun challenge to fit two cats together to create Ying Yang.

This year I was lucky enough to be given the opportunity to design a Queen of Clubs for the ACEO ~ Art Cards Editions and Originals Club's Deck of Cards. A double deck of cards is being done this year and each card of the decks will feature a painting by a different artist. I thought it very suitable that my Queen of Clubs would be holding a King George Spaniel.

Copyrighted 2009. All rights reserved by artist and no unauthorized copying is allowed.

I seem to still be in that weird mode, so I switched to horses today. I grew up in a very strict household where my father would not allow us to have coloring books or comic books. He felt that they stifled our imaginations. When I was 6 or 7 years old I began drawing horses. He was really pleased that I loved drawing. Sad to say, it wasn't because I loved drawing that I drew horses. It was just that I thought if I drew enough of them he would get the message that I wanted a horse.

I thought it would be fun to show this piece from beginning sketch to the finished painting.

I just can't seem to get back into painting, so I decided to play around with some inks that I have. I love the transparent and vivid hues.

The cartoon with the cat's leg in the air is what my grandmother used to call the "Preacher Pose." She said that every time the minister or other company came over the cat would stroll into the room, sit down, and casually proceed to groom her underside.

"Blocked"

I seem to be having a hard time getting back into painting. I just can't settle into a groove. This will pass, but for now it is very frustrating. So I thought I would share a few quick sketches that I've done.

On January 26th we lost a dear part of our family. Martha was a doting, loving grandmother to our children, a wonderful mother to her son, my husband and a dear friend and momma to me. She had been ill for many years and yet she had bounced back each time we thought all was lost. At last, as her body wore out she finally found peace. We miss her greatly, but our love for her will last forever.
