This is a painting that I have been thinking about doing for a long time. It was done from a photograph that was taken at my brother's home on the creek on Edisto Island. I just loved the colors and the effect that I was able to achieve of the sunset.

I am an artist lucky enough to live in East Tennessee where there is an abundance of new, inspiring subjects to paint with each passing season. My favorite subjects are animals and flora, but actually I will paint anything that catches my interest. I also love the SC coast and visit Edisto Island frequently to hear the soothing roll of the ocean and to capture the eternal beauty of the coast. In one form or other, the act of creating art has dominated my life. Even when I wasn't painting, I was creating works in other medias such as clay, cloth, even digital media. Now I have come full circle and have returned to where I started. I primarily work in acrylics, oils and watercolors. I think of my art as being divided into two distinct styles, one as actual painting and the second as illustrations. When I paint I try for a realistic look, but when I feel fanciful and playful I do illustrations.
