Another something silly and fun. This was a personal challenge to see how many animals I could stuff into the Ark. There are birds, gators, whale, sheep, dogs, monkeys, giraffes, pigs, lions, horses, elephant, and cows. So many animals, so little room.

Recently my son visited New York where he took this picture of the Manhattan Bridge. I decided to use it as a starting point for an ACEO Cityscape. To make it more dramatic I decided to add the water below and to make it a night scene.

Dallas at Sunset

In March my son moved to Dallas. His apartment has a wonderful view of the city. While there I took several photos from his studio window and painted a small canvas of the city right at sunset. Only later did I realize that several of the buildings and the ball didn't show up until after dark and as a result I had either left them out or misread their distinctive forms. The top painting incorporates some of the missing buildings. I really liked the cranes in the distance because it shows Dallas as a dynamic, growing city. Also in the top painting I decided to add reflections across the black asphalt roof that extends out below his window.

"The Endangered Species Quilt Project"

For the past month the ACEO Group that I belong to has been working on a project based on the Endangered Species ACEOS that were done for the August Challenge. The quilt will be auctioned off with the proceeds going to the World Land Trust to help preserve the rainforests. The auction is tentatively planned for the first week of December. Many people's efforts went into the concept and creation of the quilt, but special thanks are given to Charlene Dodson who created the quilt and Starr who took the lead and created the video.

This month the Challenge was "Favorite Childhood TV Shows or Movies." One of my favorites was Dr. Who as played by English actor, Tom Baker. I really had to dust off my technical drawing skills to do the robots and even then, they are not quite right.
