This past Fall I entered the Years Best ACEO competition. The competition featured approx 30 different categories. Eleven of my 17 entries were chosen as finalists in the different categories. From those categories I received five Honorable Mention awards and a Second Place award.
Here are a few of the winning entries. I thank everyone who voted for my paintings.

"Flamingo Revisited"
Copyrighted 2009. All rights reserved by artist and no unauthorized copying is allowed.
About a year ago I did two paintings of Plastic Flamingos standing outside a shop in Florida. I love flamingos, so today I decided to revisit the subject. They are really incredible looking birds.

"Holiday Fruit, Oranges"
Acrylic, gallery wrapped canvas 6"x 8".
Copyrighted 2009. All rights reserved by artist and no unauthorized copying is allowed.
A funny thing happened on the way to the canvas. I set this simple still life up to paint and worked on the piece for awhile. After I took a break and came back, I found the larger piece of orange missing. I still haven't found the missing piece. My suspicion is that our Boston Terrier, Joey, stole it. I just can't figure out where he took it. Surely, he didn't eat it.

Happy New Year!
Boy, it has been a wild ride for the past few months. When I last posted on October 22, I never dreamed that it would be over two months before I could get back. Up to that point I had been so excited that, like an old clock, the year was winding down and that I was painting and posting practically everyday. But then the spring snapped and my life went haywire. I will not bore you with the details. It is enough to say my life was thrown out of kilter and I could never find time to sit down and post.
At last, finally, I think things are beginning to settle down and I can get back into my familiar routine.
I love fresh starts. When I was teaching at the university I always saw the beginning of each new semester as a blank slate, just begging to be filled with new experiences.
