This week must be ACEO week for me. Yesterday I decided to play around with wild looking moons. One thing I found out is although the paintings are small, they are as complex as larger paintings. However, they are fun to do so I worked on a few of them.

While we were roaming around in the mountains we were lucky enough to catch a train as it went across a trestle.

This was the view beneath the tree canopy on Roan Mountain. The moss covered rocks were in stark contrast to the icy laden tree branches. Wow, was it cold!

This is another painting inspired by our trip to the Roan last Sunday. The frost on the trees was amazing. The frost is actually known as "Rime". By the time we left the area I felt that my eyeballs were beging to freeze.

Last Sunday my husband and I spent the day roaming around the area. Although sunshine had been promised for the afternoon, it never cleared. When we got to the top of Roan Mtn. the site was incredible, and also the temperature. We were right in the middle of the clouds and at 5500 feet the temperature was below freezing. Everything was coated in heavy layers of frost. So much so, that it looked like snow. We took a lot of photographs, amazed at how the frost lay on the vegetation. The fog we so thick that distant trees could barely be seen.

English Bulldogs always have such wonderful expressions. Their whole bodies seem to wag hello when they see you.

Life has been a bit frantic since returning to TN, with very little time to paint. So I decided to post a dog portrait that was done a couple of years ago. This was a gift to my sister. Hopefully tomorrow I will find time to set up and start painting again.

The weather here in Dallas is going through extreme changes from one day to the next. Sunday was in the 60s, Monday was stormy and dropped into the 30s with snow, and today, back to the 60s. When we arrived last week from Tennessee one of the first things I noticed was the promise of sunflowers close to blooming. This morning I saw that they had been burnt by the cold. So I thought I would post a painting I did a couple of weeks ago and hope that Spring will arrive soon.
