Last Sunday my husband and I spent the day roaming around the area. Although sunshine had been promised for the afternoon, it never cleared. When we got to the top of Roan Mtn. the site was incredible, and also the temperature. We were right in the middle of the clouds and at 5500 feet the temperature was below freezing. Everything was coated in heavy layers of frost. So much so, that it looked like snow. We took a lot of photographs, amazed at how the frost lay on the vegetation. The fog we so thick that distant trees could barely be seen.
